30 Day craft challenge - Participant projects

Here are a few more of the craft projects from the participants of the
30 Day Craft Challenge
these are from Day two...

First was Made by Carol McCann using recycled coffee seel foil - and cut out using a Tim Holtz die.

"Harrt Potter" style wand  made by Amber Budden - made from scrap paper and tissues, then decorated with glue and paint.  and the box is a recycled chocolate box.

This next one was made by Ann Place - made from glass tiles and reused wrapping paper and cards.

Erin Applebee has made this next layout - and you can follow her blog at http://erinapplebee.blogspot.com.au/

This drawing is by Erin Boxsell - staying with the theme of recycled, using the symbols for recycling, in drawing form.

Linda Bromley created this one -
Linda used a few recycled things in her project including the wrapper from a Libra pad as the background. The tiny pink stripes on top are from foam dot packaging.
The green/brown ruffle is a spellbinder flower that ripped, and the leaves were left over from a previous project. I especially love the quilled roses, which for these she used a left over macca's bag scrunched then inked it pink.

The last one I will show today is by Tania Ridgwell - she used a recycled doillie for this project.

Tomorrow I will be sharing Day 4's Project plus a few projects from todays word ~Velvet~

Day Three - 30 Day Craft Challenge

Today's word is ~ velvet ~
Day three of the 30 day craft challenge, and lots of crafty projects are being posted in the 'paperheartdesigns - 30 Day Craft Challenge' album as well as many pictures being posted on the event page.

So many inspirational and beautiful projects - some of which I will be displaying here later today.

For day three I have made a gift tag, using brown card ( cut out with my silhouette cutting machine), some music sheets I got from a second hand shop, a rose, some Kaisercraft pearls , the Kaisercraft stamp from the (velvet ensemble range) and a piece of velvet ribbon. I used my sewing machine to sew on the ribbon and music sheet to the card and used a plain black ink for stamping the kaisercraft stamp i also usedTim Holtz distress pads on the edge of the papers. The ' just for you' stamp is from the MCT collection.

30 Day Craft Challenge - Day Two

The word for today is ~Recycled~
I love using recycled items in my work, and I am one of those people who keeps every card, paper and ribbon that I am given on special occassions....which means I have a large (few) boxes with lots of bits and pieces in them.

My project today was a fast and simple notebook.
I started out with some recycled A5 paper that I cut in half.
I used some recycled card from a project from my Uni days for the front and back of the note book, and a picture from a golden book I found at a local op shop for my cover.

I then punched holes in the top of the album and bind in with some hemp cord that I have had in my stash for a while.
I will be doing a whole range of these little notepads with the other baby animal images from the golden book.

Yesterday I received many crafty projects by email, and links on my Facebook page. Here are just a few...

Katrina Tambasco - Flourish inspired photography

Erin Boxsell - a beautiful hand drawn horse and quote.

30 Days of Craft - Day One

So Today is Day One of the
30 days Of Craft Challenge
and it has been a very creative day ...

This afternoon I helped a friend Paint some of a wall mural for our local Defence Playgroup, it is an african (lion King) type theme, and it is a lot of fun to help paint - I have not painted much for about 10 years and forgot how therapeutic painting can be...

I painted in some of the rocks today - as you can see I am more of a cartoon type painter than a realistic one :)

So to the Craft Challenge - Today I thought  I would start of easy and made a simple card.
I used an assortment of blue scrap paper and for the background used a Kaisercraft wooden flourish and spray painted with silver paint to leave an impression from the flourish.

I backed it with black mettalic paper and silver glitter paper.
The ribbon is a velvety feel ribbon and it is finished off with a double layered hand stamped (with flourish stamp from Kaisercraft) and decorated with Kaisercraft silver rhinestones.

I would love to try this spray paint technique again but maybe with a flourish paper for the babckground or stamped flourish designs in the background similar to that stamped on the butterfly.

Am looking forward to sharing what others have come up with.

Day One Inspirational word...

So the 30 Day Craft Challenge starts tomorrow...
and the Inspiration word for day one is...

~Flourish~

I love flourishes but very rarely use them in my work, so I look forward to coming up with a lovely flourish inspired craft project! :)
I am excited to see what everyone else comes up with also and will be sharing some of these projects as well as my own finished project here tomorrow :)

Until then...

Thursday, 17 May 2012

So the blogging after February came to a stand still...with all the technology out there I have found it difficult to remember to post in facebook, on my website and also blog. So I have come up with a way to get me blogging on a more regular basis, and get use to the world of blogging.

I have set myself a challenge...

30 craft projects in 30 days!!!

Each will be placed on my blog each day with some tutorials and instructions on how to do some of the projects I will be completing.
I have also offered the challenge to some wonderful crafters in the Facebook world, so will not be completing this challenge alone :) I also will be choosing a project a day from those who join me in this challenge, to showcase on my Facebook business page and also here.

If you would like to join or follow me the link can be found below which includes all the details...

The challenge will begin on
May 21st and Continue through until June 19th 2012

To make it a little more challenging for myself I will also be packing up my house in this time frame, moving interstate and will be on the road a couple of Days of the challenge, so I will be crafting and blogging from the road whilst my wonderful Bro-in-law drives for a little while ( the 15th and 16th of June)...Thanks to my smart phone and the wonders of technology!!!

Back into the swing of things...

Finally on top of things and have had some time for myself to think, design and create.
After a little while of deliberating over it (almost 2 years...just a little while) I have finally decided on a direction for my precious wedding album. I am returing to my mixed media roots and will be using a combination of different mediums and techniques to create what I hope to be a beautiful album to treasure for years to come.
I will be making the album from scratch and will be teaching myself (as well as I hope soon, others) the techniques of album binding. I will also be using silk, paint, painting mediums, stitches and an array of other mediums, and having a great time in the process.
I will post a photo of my starting point...bare box board at it's most primitive state. I am very excited about what will form out of this basic material and a little creativity and imagination, as well as many skills I have picked up over my years of watching, learning and creating...

Bare Box Board for front and Back cover

Printed wedding photo on silk, this will be part of the cover of my wedding album.
