Day 19 - 30 Day Craft Challenge ~Fun~

It's Day 19 of the 30 Day Craft Challenge and todays word is
~Fun~
Today I decided to edit some photos showing the FUN we had on a recent trip to Perth to visit my beautiful sister-in-law!
I love taking photos and playing around with effects - I am doing similar things as these photos for my wedding album and printing them onto different surfaces such as organza, silk and watercolour paper.
I really love to play around and get a different effect with a photo to bring out the emotion or feeling from the day/event and make the photo speak more. Each person sees and interprets things in a different way, that includs photos. Below are some of the photos I edited today, playing with different filters and effects.

A photo of my happy husband (who has in the last year taken up fishing) with his catch for the day :)

My Beautiful sister in law at beautiful Rockingham :)

This one I LOVE it is a photo from AQWA the Western Australian aquarium, the photo is of some jelly fish and I manipulated it with filters in photoshop - such a great effect am thinking I might make a canvas out of it down the track :)

I will be catching up on all the participant projects over the weekend so I will have some BIG blog posts to share with you,

Day 18 - 30 DAy Craft Challenge ~Lace~

Day 18 of the 30 Day Craft Challenge and the word for today is
~Lace~
Today I had another busy one, A sewing class this morning and some house packing up admin this afternoon followed by dinner out with two of my girlfriends - my leaving dinner as I am leaving South Australia next week to move back to NSW.
So my project is an old but recent off the page I made for my mother in law for Mothers Day.
It is a Purse shaped pen caddy from Kaisercraft - I have used stamps to stamp on raw wood that makes an effect I quite like and hope to use in the future plus I have used a button glued on and a Kaisercraft pearl embellishment. On the back I have used Blackboard Vinyl as a memo board, this can be kept with pens in it next to the phone as it doubles as a pen caddy and message board.

I used a paper lace doilie under the front cemi circle to make it look like a handbag at the front, plus, a flower, ribbon and lace tied around the handle. The paper is also Kaisercraft but after 3/4 a bottle of wine the actual paper name has escaped my mind :)

I will be showing more great projects tomorrow for yesterdays word ~Sparkle~ as well as todays word ~Lace~ and I will be making a project tomorrow based around the word ~Fun~

Until then Keep crafting

Day 17 - 30 Day Craft Challenge ~Sparkle~

So it's Day 17 of the 30 Day Craft Challenge and todays word is ~Sparkle~
I had thought of many things I may be able to do for the word, but packing up the house and yes, still battling a cold I decided to go easy on myself and Share some things I have made in the past for the word ~Sparkle~
These things are from my wedding and feature some sparkly ribbon slides. My decoration theme was red and roses and I chose Cristina Re's Flocked butterfly and flower paper for my wedding invitations and this paper was carried through to all my decorations.

The first item that sparkles is the "K" and "D" made from wood that I covered with coordinating papers, edged with ribbon and but a ribbon and Buckle down the front of them. (Oh by the way my Husbands name is Daniel hence the "D" :-p )

And these were the little boxes that I made as place settings for each person (around 85 were made in total) they all had the same colours in them but each tables boxes were a different design. The Bridal table had the diamontee buckles put on them.

To see more of my wedding decorations including, handmade invitations, order of service, guest book and more... go to www.facebook.com/paperheartdesigns and there is an album in the photos called red red rose.

Now here are a few participant projects for the word

Day 16 - 30 Day Craft Challenge ~Flower~

Day 16 of the 30 Day Craft Challenge and today's word is
~Flower~
Today I finished off my skirt I have been working on in my sewing class, but because of lack of space from packing up our house and having stuff everywhere I have not been able to get a very good photo, so the below photo is of the funky flower pattern that is on the fabric I made my skirt from. I am very happy with my sewing classes as I needed to learn how to put zips in clothes and I have picked up a lot of little tips and tricks from the class. Here is the photo of the skirt ...
I promise a better one soon...

Day 15 - 30 day Craft Challenge ~Sew~

Half way through the 30 Day Craft Challenge at Day 15 today with the word being

 ~Sew~

As well as Paper Craft I also love sewing so it is so great to be able to combine the two.
My project today is an album I made for a Mini album swap - I did show a preview last week - and now that Nicky has seen it I can show the whole album.
The Theme of the Mini album swap was ~Sewing~ and the album had to be no bigger than 15cm x 15cm. For a bit of a different Idea I decided that I would sew a jacket zip into the cover, as a way of closing the album up. So I used Calico and printed some sewing related images onto the fabric, glued on some tape ribbon and used glossy accents and embossing powder to fill in the images on the calico to give it texture. Then I sewed on the zip and sewed onto the cardboard and paper album backing and pages I had created with a Mixture of Kaiser Craft cards and embellishments.
I also backed the calico with thick interfacing and zigzag stitched the calico and a clear vinyl sleeve onto the front. I finished off with a ribbon and pearls.

Front of album - some of the irregular pages are sticking out the top.
One of the pages - i used both the sewing machine, hand sewing and pens to create the look of stitches.
This is one of the Back pages.
A page with hand made envelope and button sewn on.
The Back cover of the album.

I will be making more albums with the Jacket zip technique as well as experimenting with other unusal ways to fasten albums.

Here are a few of the projects from yesterdays word

Day 14 - 30 Day Craft Challenge ~Earth~

Day 14 of the 30 Day Craft Challenge and the word for today is
~Earth~
Today I am sharing a project that I completed for a friend of mines sons 5th Birthday. He loves dinosaurs and my friend made an amazing dinosaur dig cake (will see if I can share it with you later in the week) and she asked me to do a few signs for her. The first photo is the little signs that go into the cake (Dig area) which where printed onto card and covered with glossy acents (AKA my new best friend) then put onto sticks. The second photo is of the banner sign I made it was done by printing a bone font (found free on the internet) onto brown card then I went over the font with glossy accents and sprinkled on (brown sugar coloured) Zing embossing powder. Once heated the embossing powder and glossy accents bubbled and made a letter that looked and felt like bone. I love using the glossy acents with the embossing powder it has a really precise nib so you can paint it into small areas and combines so well with the embossing powders (just make sure to heat in a well ventilated area).

Cake Banner and signs

Now here are a few projects from yesterdays word
